I just signed up for a free trial membership on World Chess Live (WCL), a site that allows players across the world (hence the name) to play with each other.
An added bonus on this site is that you can play in USCF online rated tournaments. The one I did on Thursday didn't go so well for me (the mean player rating there was 1700, and I was rated 1190). Out of seven rounds, I got two draws and four losses (plus one bye), so I'm not sure if my rating will go up or down. Something really cool, however, was that I had the privilege of playing against FIDE Master Daniel Naroditsky (a 10 year old little mastermind, much like Kayden [see my first 2007 chess entry]).
So far I've enjoyed it, but I don't think I'll buy a membership.
