Vector Prime is the first book in the New Jedi Order series, set in the Star Wars expanded universe about 45 years after the original Star Wars movie, "A New Hope". This new series tells about the invasion of an extragalactic species called the Yuuzhan Vong who, in addition to using obscure biotechnology, are not present in the Force. This book specifically talks about the initial force of the Yuuzhan Vong that will prepare the way for the rest of the species to enter. It includes the death of Chewbacca the Wookie, which I was very sad to read about.
I found this book extremely well written. The characters are well described, and their emotions easily related to by the reader. It contains intense and entertaining battles, and yet lacks the gore that so puts off many readers who don't like too much blood and guts. A very good read.
