Mom's Broken Ankle

My mother broke her ankle on August 20th last month. She was driving me back from school. We stopped at a Payless Shoestore to get my little sister some shoes for school, and my mom's foot slipped off of the step when she was getting out of the car. Her ankle broke, and we had to cushion her head with a blanket and put her foot on the car step she had fallen off of, because I couldn't move her off of the parking lot tar. She called my dad, and was very brave the whole time while we waited for him to come from Slat Lake, talking to all of the kind people who stopped by to see if she was all right, and even laughing.

We found out that she needed a surgery to insert a plate and some metal screws into her ankle. Even though the surgery is now over, she is still in a great deal of pain, but she is strong and remains cheerful and polite through this hard time.
